England international Josh Beaumont is all set to make a return from injury for his club Sale Sharks in the upcoming European Rugby Challenge Cup clash against Lyon at AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined since October after sustaining a torn bicep during the Premiership Rugby clash against Harlequins.

However, after returning to full training earlier this month, Beaumont could not wait to return to action.

"Obviously I am a little bit rusty and I have only been back out in training for a week or so but I just can't wait to get back out there again," Josh confirmed

"In fact, I think I have been the only one of the players smiling during this cold weather and first in line to get out there training so that's the perfect sign that I am itching to get back playing again!

"Credit to the lads as over the past couple of months they have done brilliantly.

"As a squad we set ourselves a series of goals and targets after the last batch of European and Anglo-Welsh Cup games in the autumn and the lads have really turned a corner with our performances from the start of the season.

"So for me to come back into a winning side, playing with lots of confidence will make things a lot easier.

"A number of the guys have played a lot of rugby of late so, hopefully, my return can help give some of them a deserved rest and allow us to rotate the squad over these next four weeks while we are playing in Europe and the Anglo-Welsh Cup."

Sharks are languishing at the bottom of Pool 2 with seven points while Toulouse and Lyon have managed eight and nine points respectively. A defeat on Saturday can very well end the Sharks' chances of making to the knock-out stage and Beaumont is wary of the challenge ahead.

"It's always a big physical challenge whenever you face sides from France," Josh added.

"So we all know that it will be a really tough game this weekend.

"Lyon are enjoying a good season in the French Top 14 so it will be a huge challenge for us, but that's what we want as a squad."
