All Blacks duo Jordie Barrett and Ardie Savea have penned new deals with New Zealand Rugby and Hurricanes that will keep them with the province until the end of 2019.

Savea made his professional rugby debut with Wellington in 2012 and his first game in Super Rugby for Hurricanes came a year later. He was also one of the highest try-scorer for the club during the 2017 season.

The 24-year-old has also featured in 25 Tests for Steve Hansen's side since his debut in 2016 and was also part of the squad that recently competed in the three-game series against France in June.

“Wellington is my home town and it’s great I can stay here and contribute as much as I can for the Hurricanes.

"Also, we all know how important next year is for the All Blacks with the Rugby World Cup in Japan and I really want to be a part of that campaign.”

Meanwhile, Jordie Barrett, brother of All Blacks star Beauden has been with Hurricanes since 2017 and was part of the New Zealand U20 side that competed in the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2016.

His consistent performance at domestic level earned him a selection in New Zealand's clash against Samoa last year and in his second game he went on to play against British and Irish Lions. Overall, he has featured in five Tests scoring three tries in it.

“I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment after missing the back end of last season.

“Hopefully I can play my part in helping the Hurricanes go as far as we can this season and next and, if my form warrants it, I can also be involved in the All Blacks.”

All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen is delighted with the news of duo staying committed to New Zealand Rugby with World Cup around the corner.

“It’s great to have two young players recommitting to New Zealand Rugby and their Super club. Ardie and Jordie are both incredibly talented footballers in their own right, have been outstanding in our environment and done the jersey proud and we look forward to working with both of them.”
