Scotland duo Stuart Hogg and Jonny Gray will remain on the sidelines for up to six months after undergoing surgery.

Hogg sustained a cheek injury during his British and Irish Lions commitment when he collided with his team-mate Conor Murray during the tour game against Crusaders following which a scan revealed a "facial bone fracture".

A statement released by his club Glasgow Warriors confirmed that the fullback had a surgery on "underlying shoulder issue" which will need four to six months of rehabilitation period.

Hogg's Glasgow and Scotland team-mate Gray sustained a wrist injury that cut short his summer tour and is expected to be out of action on a similar length of time.

Meanwhile, the causalities continued for the Scottish regional side as Australia born winger Ratu Tagive is out of action for six to nine months after rupturing his Achilles during pre-season training.
