Rugby Football Union (RFU) announced that Gloucester prop John Afoa is set to appear before a disciplinary panel on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old was charged for performing a dangerous tackle on Harlequins fly-half Tim Swiel in the recent Aviva Premiership encounter between the two teams which Gloucester lost by 27-30.

A statement released by RFU confirmed the news on Afoa, who will now face a three-man disciplinary panel.

"John Afoa of Gloucester Rugby will appear before an RFU disciplinary panel charged with dangerous tackling," read the statement.

"Afoa is alleged to have dangerously tackled Tim Swiel of Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership match between Gloucester and Harlequins on Saturday, March 4 and was subsequently cited. The incident occurred in the first half of the match.

"The prop will appear before a three-person RFU disciplinary panel chaired by Gareth Graham in Bristol on Tuesday, March 7 at 6:30pm."
