French Rugby Federation has confirmed the sacking of head coach Guy Noves from the national side following a series of poor results.

Since Noves took over in 2015, France managed to win just seven out of the 21 games and as a result, he becomes the first Les Bleus boss in history to be axed.

Noves will be replaced by Jacques Brunel, who has already worked with France as an assistant coach between 2001 and 2007 and has also the experience of coaching Italy between 2011 and 2016.

Brunel also has the experience of coaching Auch, Pau and Bordeaux Begles in the past and is set to take in charge of the French team until the 2019 World Cup.

France will take on Ireland in the Six Nations opener at Stade de France on 3rd February.
