England international Jack Nowell is in line to make a return for his club Exeter Chiefs following recovery from a couple of fractures around his cheek and eye socket.

The 24-year-old suffered the blow in October while playing for the Chiefs in the Aviva Premiership clash against Newcastle Falcons and was forced to miss the autumn internationals for England.

Nowell had to undergo a couple of surgeries but is now in contention for a return when Exeter Chiefs host Bath at Sandy Park on Saturday.

"He's trained fully this week and he's done contact training," said Exeter's rugby director Rob Baxter.

"The second operation lengthened things out slightly but it didn't disturb the fracture site. It's not been a quick-healing injury but he's now absolutely fine."

Exeter Chiefs currently occupy the top position in Aviva Premiership table with seven wins from nine games.
