Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has added Garry Ringrose, John Cooney and Niall Scannell to the squad for the upcoming Six Nations encounter against Wales to be played at Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

Ringrose recovered an ankle injury and his inclusion will be a relief to Ireland, who have missed the services of Robbie Henshaw with a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile, Cooney and Scannell have been included as a cover to Luke McGrath and Rob Herring as the duo sustained injuries during last weekend. Herring sustained an elbow injury while playing for Ulster while McGrath suffered a knee injury while representing his club Leinster.

A statement released by Irish Rugby Football Union revealed that Tadhg Furlong (hamstring), Iain Henderson (hamstring/thigh) and James Ryan (groin) are making good progress from their injuries and are likely to be fit before the game against Wales.

Ireland are currently at the top of the table with wins against both France and Italy in the opening two rounds.
