Ian Ritchie Interview - RFU CEO talks women's rugby, World Cup & Twickenham

Reflecting on a busy summer of action and looking ahead to upcoming events, Rugby Football Union chief executive Ian Ritchie discusses women's rugby, the World Cup and Twickenham.

He pays tribute to England's success at the Women's World Cup, saying this is now a 'great moment' for women's rugby, also lauding the Under 20s winning the World Cup as well.

He adds that the men's tour of New Zealand was frustrating but that he believes England will be competitive for the coming autumn internationals and next year's World Cup.

And he reveals that the 2015/16 Premiership season may begin during the 2015 World Cup, if the IRB approves a request from the Rugby Football Union.

He confirms an approach may be made to the International Rugby Board (IRB) to allow Premiership matches to begin as the World Cup enters its knockout stages.

Finally, he talks about what fans can expect when they head to an upgraded Twickenham this autumn.
