Winger Jason Woodward scored two of the Hurricanes' five tries on Saturday night as they managed to survive a spirited Reds challenge at Westpac Stadium to register a 29-14 victory.

The two sides who came into this week's fixture after suffering unpleasant defeats last week, were longing to get back to winning ways. Hurricanes were forced to make five changes to their side owing to disciplinary action against players for breaking curfew last week in South Africa.

Two replacement wingers, Wes Goosen and Woodward who were brought in for All Blacks Julian Savea and Cory Jane played a pivotal role in Hurricanes' victory.

Japan international Ayumu Goromaru put Reds on the board in the second minute by successfully kicking a penalty. He went on to score a couple more on the 27th and 42nd minute respectively.

Goosen crossed over for a try on the 13th minute to give Hurricanes an early advantage. Hooker Dane Coles went on to register the second try for the New Zealand side on the 40th minute as fly-half Beauden Barrett added the extras.Hurricanes went into the half-time break with a modest lead of six points.

Hurricanes came out dominating the second-half as Woodward extended his team's lead with a try on the 43rd minute. Reds winger Chris Feauai-Sautia crossed over for the first try of the home side on the 50th minute of the game.

Ngani Laumape scored the fourth try of the match for the visitors in the 65th minute as Barrett added the extras.

Woodward went on to score another try at the concluding minute of the game as Hurricanes sealed a 15-point victory and also bag the bonus point. This result is Hurricanes' 12th win from its 14 encounters against Reds.
