Gloucester Rugby have confirmed a fine of £2,000 for England international Danny Cipriani following his involvement in a recent nightclub assault.

The Gloucester fly-half was already fined £2,000 by Jersey Magistrates' Court after he pleaded guilty to common assault and resisting arrest during the early hours on Wednesday and was also charged by the Rugby Football Union for 'conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game'.

Now the Cherry and Whites have executed their disciplinary action that includes a similar fine and additionally, the 30-year-old has been ordered to do "additional 10 hours of community service".

"Having reviewed all the facts and spoken to both Danny and Willi Heinz, who witnessed the events first hand, we are in agreement with the Magistrate in Jersey that this was a minor incident," said a Gloucester Rugby spokesperson.

"While Danny is very apologetic for his actions, we do not believe he is guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and he will continue to get our full support.

"Danny has now faced disciplinary action from both the Courts and his Club and, with the new season about to kick off, our focus is very much on preparing for Northampton on the 1st."

Cipriani was earlier left out of Gloucester's friendly game against Ulster last Saturday which they went on to win with a 17-29 margin.
