Former England international Steffon Armitage will make his debut in the Major League Rugby 2020 season after he was signed by San Diego Legion.

The 33-year-old played five Tests for England that came in 2009 and 2010 but was out of contention for national selection since his move to France in 2011 when he joined Toulon. He enjoyed three Champions Cup and a solitary Top 14 title with the club before shifting to Pau in 2016.

The 5ft 10' back-row was not selected for England's 2015 World Cup campaign due to their policy of not selecting players plying their trade overseas but his addition to San Diego will hugely benefit the club considering Armitage's 12-year experience in Europe.

San Diego Legions finished the league stage at the top during the 2019 MLR Season but were defeated in the finals by Seattle Seawolves.
