Exeter Chiefs have confirmed that England international Jack Nowell will undergo further assessment following his ankle injury that he sustained during the Premiership final defeat against Saracens at Twickenham Stadium.

Nowell played 70 minutes in the game that saw Saracens edge out Rob Baxter's men by three points and will now undergo further scans to assess the extent of the damage.

"Jack has undergone a scan on his ankle, which at this stage needs further assessment before a decision is made as to ongoing treatment for him," an Exeter statement read.

Jack Nowell has played 33 Tests for England and two for British and Irish Lions since his Test debut in 2014 and is a vital cog in Eddie Jones' squad for the World Cup scheduled in Japan later this year.
