England have requested for the upcoming Six Nations clash against Wales to be conducted in an open roof Principality Stadium.

The Principality Stadium has a retractable roof system and it needs the agreement of visitors to remain closed which will be the preferred option for host Wales to build up the atmosphere for the crucial encounter.

England head coach Eddie Jones is waiting for the 48-hour deadline to reveal his preference but it is understood that Rugby Football Union has already requested for an open roof.

Wales had defeated England with a closed roof in 2013 and two years later, the red rose team completed a revenge victory with an open roof at the venue.

Wales skipper Alun Wyn Jones said he will not be surprised if England choose the open roof option.

"When it is closed it's not claustrophobic, but I think there is essentially no escape for anyone or anything," Alun Wyn Jones said.

"Sometimes that is a great place to be. It's the sort of occasion you want to be involved in."

Meanwhile, England boss Jones said his team is not worried about the roof at Principality Stadium.

"Maybe it will be oscillating - we'll catch it at the right time. I have idea, I don't worry about it," Eddie Jones said.

"All we are worried about is playing well. It can be open or closed. We don't care. If we have a say in it, we'll make a decision at the appropriate time."
