As the Old Mutual Wealth Cup got underway at Twickenham on Sunday, let us take a look on how the players have fared in it.

ENGLAND:

MIKE BROWN: Ran hard and straight, but surely Alex Goode must start at full-back against Australia. 6/10

ANTHONY WATSON: Remarkable finish for England's first try to prove once more he is a lethal finisher. 8

JONATHAN JOSEPH: Saw plenty of ball and at times used it wisely, but also kicked too much. 7

LUTHER BURRELL: Picked a sharp line for his try and it was his bulk that swept him over. 7

MARLAND YARDE: The wing's strength was a thorn in Wales' side and he deserved his try. 7

GEORGE FORD: A nightmare afternoon for the Bath fly-half who kicked just one of his seven shots at goal. 4

BEN YOUNGS: Rescued his afternoon with a well-taken try that he will replay in his mind over and over. 6

MATT MULLAN: It was a profitable afternoon for England's scrum and Mullan played his part. 6

DYLAN HARTLEY: As expected of a player so short of game time, lacked fitness. 6

DAN COLE: Made few inroads as a carrier but generally solid and tidy. Scrummaged well. 6

JOE LAUNCHBURY: Man-of-the-match display from the lock who was omnipresent at Twickenham. 8

COURTNEY LAWES: An outstanding run and pass enabled Yarde to score and he finished in credit. 7

TEIMANA HARRISON: An unspectacular debut but did enough to suggest he has a future in England's back row. 7

JAMES HASKELL: As ever, his work rate and appetite for the collision was relentless. 7

JACK CLIFFORD: Will surely start in England's back row against Australia due to his speed and power. 8

Replacements

TOMMY TAYLOR: Late arrival. 6

ELLIS GENGE: Did well on his debut. 6

DAVE ATTWOOD: Starting locks were better. 6

MATT KVESIC: Little chance to shine. 6

DANNY CARE: Looked lively. 6

OLLIE DEVOTO: Almost scored late on. 6

WALES:

LIAM WILLIAMS: Had a lively first 40 minutes, but then faded as Wales lost their way after the break. 6.

GEORGE NORTH: Had few opportunities to leave a mark on the game. Wales must find a way of utilising his searing pace and power far more frequently. 6

SCOTT WILLIAMS: Made his Test match return after being sidelined since suffering a knee injury during the World Cup, and showed some nice touches. 7

JAMIE ROBERTS: Wales used him effectively during the first half, but his effect was minimised once England closed down his space. 6

HALLAM AMOS: Like North, he had few chances to star in attack, but he was solid in the work he did. 6

DAN BIGGAR: Kicked his goals and looked to get the Wales back division moving, but it proved a frustrating afternoon for him. 6

RHYS WEBB: Comfortably Wales' best player. A lively presence throughout, England found it hard work keeping him in check. 8

ROB EVANS: Scored his first try for Wales after just six minutes before going off during the second period when Wales head coach Warren Gatland rang the changes. 6

SCOTT BALDWIN: Not the Ospreys hooker's finest game. He had his hands full in the scrums, and missed a tackle on Ben Youngs that led directly to England's third try. 5

SAMSON LEE: A solid showing by the Wales tighthead, particularly during the first half when Wales played their best rugby. 6

JAKE BALL: A solid shift by the Scarlets lock, but he could do little to repel England's impressive recovery. 6

ALUN-WYN JONES: Played almost an hour on his return from injury after 11 weeks out, and will head on tour to New Zealand as a hugely influential figure. 6

ROSS MORIARTY: Could challenge strongly for a Test place in New Zealand. Relished the occasion. 7

DAN LYDIATE: The Wales captain's afternoon ended midway through the first half when he limped off injured, causing concern ahead of next month's New Zealand tour. 6

TAULUPE FALETAU: A rare ineffective display by the Wales number eight, who looked out of sorts and could leave little impression on the contest. 5

JAMES KING: Took over from an injured Lydiate in the first half. 6

RHYS PRIESTLAND: Went on for Biggar after 56 minutes. 6

KRISTIAN DACEY: Replaced Baldwin in the second half. 6

GETHIN JENKINS: Took over from Evans to win his 124th cap. 6

GARETH ANSCOMBE: Looked lively after replacing Scott Williams. 7
