England coach Eddie Jones has added Sale Sharks back-row Josh Beaumont in the training camp in Portugal for the upcoming autumn internationals.

The 24-year-old, who missed the 2016 Six Nations and the Australian tour due to injury, will now provide cover to Courtney Lawes.

Lawes, 27, withdrew himself from Northampton Saint's game against Gloucester Rugby on Friday with a knee injury and is doubtful for England's autumn internationals. Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder later confirmed that Lawes will undergo a scan on his knee to assess the extent of damage.

Beaumont, who is also the son of former England captain Bill Beaumont, will travel with the rest of the squad on Sunday night.

"Beaumont will join up with England at their training base in Portugal on Monday," a Rugby Football Union statement read.
