Edinburgh went on to secure home quarter-final in the ongoing Heineken Champions Cup after they went on to beat Montpellier 19-10 at BT Murrayfield Stadium on Friday.

Richard Cockerill's men now end the group stage at the top of Pool 5 with five wins from six games while Montpellier finish second with 16 points.

Fly-half Jaco van der Walt dominated the proceedings with flawless kicking as he kicked three penalties to take Edinburgh to nine points but the response from the visitors came at the stroke of half-time when Jacques Du Plessis crossed over and Ruan Pienaar improved it to reduce the gap to two points.

Montpellier went on to take the lead for the first time in the game when Pienaar kicked his second penalty goal in the 48th minute but that was cancelled when van der Walt kicked a three-pointer by the 57th minute.

By the 61st minute, Edinburgh got their opening try and also the decisive one when an offload from Henry Pyrgos found Darcy Graham and van der Walt converted it to complete a nine point victory for the Scottish side.
