Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) has confirmed that wing Duncan Taylor will not feature in the upcoming Six Nations clash against England at Twickenham on Saturday after his recent hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old had a lengthy lay-off period recovering from an ankle injury that he sustained during the tour of Japan in June last year and was hoping to be fit in time for the Calcutta Cup tie but now will have to wait further.

Taylor's hamstring injury came when he represented his club Saracens in the recent Aviva Premiership encounter against Newcastle Falcons where he was replaced in the 28th minute.

A statement issued by the SRU said: " Scotland and Saracens centre Duncan Taylor will remain in the care of his club's medical team for further assessment after he sustained a hamstring injury against Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership on Sunday."

Vern Cotter's side have already lost the services of skipper Greig Laidlaw, Josh Strauss and John Hardie to injuries and now will have to lock horns with an upbeat England side, who will look to match New Zealand's world record of 18 consecutive wins on Saturday.

Scotland are currently placed third in the table after securing two wins from the three games in the tournament.
