Saracens 35-3 Worcester Warriors, Twickenham Stadium
Scorecard

An impressive performance in the second half saw Saracens begin their title defence successfully against Worcester Warriors with an impressive 35-3 victory in the first game of the Aviva Premiership London double-header.

Fly-half Alex Lozowski stepped-up in the absence of England international Owen Farrell and racked up 20 points to set the victory for the Sarries. Apart from Lozowski, Saracens handed debuts to Scotland wing Sean Maitland and former Springboks international Schalk Burger.

Fly-half Lozowski opened the account for Saracens with a penalty in the 15th minute and the scores were levelled when his counterpart Ryan Lamb scored a penalty of his own after George Kruis jumped across a line-out. The double champions had a low-key first half ending it with a marginal lead of three points after Lozowski added another penalty in the extra time.

However, Mark McCall men came up with a spirited performance in the second half, giving no respite for Worcester Warriors whatsoever.

Tevita Cavubati kicking the ball from Richard Wigglesworth allowed Lozowski his third penalty kick following which the former Leeds and Wasps fly-half added the conversion on the back of a Jamie George try.

James Johnston's yellow card did not help the Warriors much as Saracens went on to add three more tries to take the final score to 35-3.
