Wales have suffered further injury setback as prop Samson Lee and uncapped fullback Phil Dollman have been ruled out of the upcoming summer tour of Tonga and Samoa due to knee injuries.

Dollman suffered the injury while playing for Exeter Chiefs in the Aviva Premiership final against Wasps and will be replaced by Scarlets' Rhys Patchell in the squad while Rhodri Jones will take the place of Lee, who has been capped 34 times for his country.

Wales head coach Robin McBryde described the injuries to the duo as "unfortunate".

"Phil has suffered a significant injury to his knee," said McBryde.

"The time it occurred for him meant it was a very bitter-sweet day.

"He had the heights of winning the final with his club, scoring a try, and then he got the injury.

"Samson's knee, unfortunately, has not settled down enough to take him to the next level in training."

Wales are without 11 of their front-line players for the Tests - stars like Sam Warburton, George North, Liam Williams and Alun Wyn Jones - due to the British and Irish Lions' New Zealand tour.

Wales will face Tonga first at Eden Park on 16th June and will follow it with a clash against Samoa at Apia Park on 23rd June.
