London Irish have confirmed the signing of Darren Dawidiuk ahead of their return to Aviva Premiership in the 2017/18 season.

The 29-year-old's career started with Cornish Pirates in 2006 and later switched to Gloucester in 2009, making 145 appearances for the Cherry and Whites in eight years. He was also part of the Gloucester squad that won European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup.

"I'm extremely grateful to have the opportunity to join London Irish, a club that's very much on the up at present," Dawidiuk told the official Exiles website.

"The lads have been very welcoming and there is a fantastic atmosphere throughout the club.

"I can't wait to pull on the green jersey and show what I can do."

Meanwhile, London Irish rugby director Nick Kennedy is delighted with his latest signing and is confident Dawidiuk will be a boost to the club.

"Darren is a vastly experienced hooker and significantly augments our options in that department.

"He has an excellent attitude and has fitted in very well with the rest of the squad.

"I'm delighted to welcome him to the club and I look forward to seeing what he can bring to the team."

London Irish, who faced relegation from Aviva Premiership during the 2015/16 season, managed to make a return to the top flight after winning the RFU Championship last season.
