Harlequins lock Mark Reddish has announced his decision to retire from professional rugby due to concussion.

The 32-year-old was a part of the Super Rugby sides Hurricanes and Highlanders between 2011 and 2016 before joining Harlequins in November last year.

He has also featured for Wellington Lions in the ITM Cup between 2009 and 2016.

Reddish confirmed the news on his retirement on the club's official website.

"Given the medical advice I have received, it's the best decision long term for me and my young family," said Reddish.

"I thoroughly enjoyed living in England and I am sad to cut my time short. I wish the boys all the best for the upcoming season and beyond."

The Quins managed a sixth position finish in the previous season after winning and losing 11 games apiece.
