Scorecard

A second half double from Dan Evans did not prove enough as Ospreys lost the European Champions Cup encounter against Clermont Auvergne with a 21-26 margin at Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Winger Alivereti Raka scored an early third minute try for Clermont Auvergne while Morgan Parra slotted the conversion and the lead soon doubled for the visitors as fullback Scott Spedding also went past the line.

Even though, the Wales duo of Rhys Webb and Dan Biggar scored a try and a conversion respectively, two more penalties from Parra ensured Clermont Auvergne ended the first half with a 7-20 margin.

Despite, David Strettle's sin-bin in the 44th minute, Parra slotted his third conversion to stretch Clermont Auvergne's lead to 16 points but Evans crossed over twice in the 60th and 74th minutes with Biggar adding the extras on both the occasions to bring down the gap to two points with six minutes to go. As the game was heading for a close finish, Spedding added a last minute penalty to complete a five point win for Clermont Auvergne.
