Debutant fly-half Steve Shingler and ex-Ulster forward Nick Williams on his competitive debut for Cardiff put up impressive performance for the Wales side as they secured a 34-16 bonus-point victory over Edinburgh at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday.

The hosts scored four tries as opposed to one scored by the visitors.

Shingler (8), number-eight Williams (60) and scrum-half Tomos Williams (71) crossed over the try line in addition to a Penalty Try awarded by match referee John Lacey on the 32nd minute.

Shingler slotted two conversions and two penalties to take his overall match haul to 15 points.

Gareth Anscombe who came in as replacement for Shingler in the 50th minute, made the remaining two conversions.

Centre Solomoni Rasolea (15) was the solitary try scorer for the Scottish side, while fly-half Duncan Weir successfully converted Rasolea's try in addition to scoring three penalties.

Williams was awarded the man of the match award as the Blues secured a comfortable 18-point margin bonus-point win to place the Wales side fourth in the points table.
