South Africa international Handre Pollard is a doubtful starter for his club Bulls in the upcoming Super Rugby encounter against Lions in Johannesburg following an injury.

The 24-year-old sustained the injury during the 43-34 win over Jaguares last weekend and did not train with the team on Monday.

Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw confirmed the news on Pollard and said the fly-half will be monitored before a decision is taken on his availability for the game against Lions.

“Handre Pollard picked up an issue with his back,” said Rossouw.

“We’ll keep a close eye on his progress during the week.”

Rossouw also added that Jason Jenkins, who missed the game against Jaguares will continue to remain on the sidelines once again.

“We’ll keep an eye on him later during the week to see his progress,” he said.

Bulls are currently languishing at the bottom of the South African Conference with six wins from 15 games.
