Scorecard

Warrick Gelant scored a hat-trick as Bulls completed a 17-30 win over Sharks in their Super Rugby encounter at Growthpoint Kings Park on Friday.

Nic de Jager got Bulls off the mark with a seventh minute try but Tony Jantjies missed out on the conversion. Sharks prop Thomas du Toit helped Sharks claim a two point lead with a touchdown in the 16th minute with Curwin Bosch adding the extras.

However, their efforts were negated when Gelant scored the first of his three tries in the 19th minute and Tiaan Schoeman, who took over from Jantjies kicked the conversion.

Even though, Bosch's maiden penalty reduced the gap to two points, Gelant crossed over for the second time in the 24th minute as the visitors went into half time with a 10-17 lead.

Schoeman scored a penalty in the 44th minute that came after a sin bin to Sharks wing Sibusiso Nkosi. After Bosch's converted try was negated by a third touchdown from Gelant, Bulls had a healthy 10 point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

Any chance of a Sharks comeback was put to rest after Schoeman kicked a 71st minute penalty to complete a 13 point victory that helped them move to second position in Africa 1 Conference.
