Scotland international Tommy Seymour has insisted that he is not thinking about a possible call-up to the British and Irish Lions squad for the tour of New Zealand in June.

The 28-year-old has been in prolific form for his club Glasgow Warriors after scoring eight tries from 11 matches that has increased the speculation of the wing featuring in the high profile tournament under head coach Warren Gatland.

However, Seymour has made it clear that his current focus is only on playing for Glasgow and Scotland.

"It's not going to come across my radar," said the 28-year-old. "With the greatest respect, it's for the media and everyone else to talk about now - it's not really for players to worry about.

"We're worrying about playing as well as we can week in, week out.

"I have zero control over anything bar what I can do on the pitch so I'll let everyone else talk and worry but it's certainly not something I'll allow to come in to my head, as it would be a waster of time and energy."

Seymour has recently signed contract extension with Glasgow Warriors along with other senior players Stuart Hogg, Henry Pyrgos and Adam Ashe. He further added that extending contract with the club is a straightforward decision considering the common goals.

"It's important when you're weighing up things, you want to see a club that is ambitious and wants to bring in talent but the main thing is keeping the guys who have made the club successful over the previous years," he said.

"It's as, or for me, more important to see the commitment from a club to keep the guys who have done so well for it in the past.

"Luckily for me I'm at a club who does that and fingers crossed we can get more of the guys signed up."

Dave Rennie will take over the coach of Glasgow Warriors from next season as Gregor Townsend is set to become to the head coach of Scotland from June and Seymour is fully confident of the former Chief's coach abilities to take the club forward.

"I didn't have to speak to Dave but I had indirect contact with him through the SRU. I hope Dave's happy I've signed on, maybe I should have spoke to him first," he joked.

"But the future does come into your thought process because you're signing up for a period of years. You have to have an idea of what those years will look like. But I'm keen to be part of it though after they sold the picture to me.

"Dave will have his own ideas and own thoughts on how things can be improved.

"But he will have been heavily involved in all the things that are going on right now, because he will want to have started that shaping process before he gets here.

"It's important for guys like Hoggy, Henry, Tim and myself who have signed up to know what the structures will be next year and how the squad will look like.

"I'm very content with everything that has been put in place."
