Former Wasps and Worcester hooker Edd Shervington has agreed to a short-term deal with Aviva Premiership club Bristol.

The 31-year-old's inclusion is to deal with the injury to the regular players and he will remain with the club until the end of November. In his five-year career with the English clubs, Shervington has played 53 Aviva Premiership games for Worcester Warriors and another 21 for Wasps.

Hookers Marc Jones, Max Crumpton and Ross McMillan are currently unavailable for selection for Bristol due to injuries, leaving Chris Brooker and Rob Hawkins with the responsibilities.

Bristol rugby director Andy Robinson revealed that the signing of Edd was to address the short-term problems.

"After the injury to Ross, we acted quickly to ensure we had cover in the hooker position. Ross will be unavailable for up to six months," Robinson told www.bristolrugby.co.uk.

"Edd was available and lives relatively locally, so it suits us as a short-term solution.

"With Anglo-Welsh Cup rugby and Aviva Premiership fixtures in November, it's important we have the numbers to compete."

Bristol have lost all the eight games they have played in this season spread across all the competitions.
