New Zealand Women 33-0 USA Women

New Zealand Women continued their impressive run in the ongoing Super Series as they blanked USA Women 33-0 in the second round at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

Carla Hohepa kick-started the proceedings with a sixth minute try that was converted by Kendra Cocksedge. The Black Ferns extended their lead before the 30th minute mark with further tries from Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate (13') and Natahlia Moors (26').

Hohepa kicked two more conversions and just when USA had a chance to open their account before the break Alev Kelter missed a penalty as the teams ended the first half with a 19-0 scoreline.

As USA failed to get any momentum, New Zealand claimed the bonus point with a 45th minute try from Tia Tapsell that made the scoreline 26-0.

As the points dried by USA struggled to cope up the pressure of a big lead and the deadlock was finally broken in the 63rd minute when Eloise Blackwell dotted down and Cocksedge's conversion ensured New Zealand completed a convincing 33-0 win.

“I was pretty happy with the performance today, the score was probably where we wanted it to be,” Black Ferns assistant coach Wesley Clarke said.

“To dissect the game we’d probably say we were pretty clinical in the first half but probably got a bit messy by the end.”
