Barbarians head coach Vern Cotter stated that the team is keen on giving a 'fitting farewell' to former France captain Thierry Dusautoir, who might play his last professional game against England on Sunday.

Dusautoir will lead a 27-man Barbarians squad against a relatively depleted England team that will have front line players missing due to Lions and club duties.

Even though, Barbarians have another game scheduled against Pro 12 side Ulster, if Dusautoir withdraws from the encounter, the game on Sunday will bring an end to a glittering career.

The 35-year-old has already announced his international retirement following the 2015 World Cup campaign where he led France to the knock-out round but continued playing for Toulouse for the last 10 years.

"If Sunday is to be Thierry's last game, then I think it would be a really fitting farewell for a man who has been such a fine servant for France," said Barbarians coach Cotter.

"I was lucky enough to coach Richie McCaw years ago, and he gave me the highest endorsement of Dusautoir when he said that in the World Cup in 2011, he looked over to him after 65 minutes, and Richie said 'he wasn't even sweating'."

Dusautoir is more known for his heroics in the 2011 World Cup where he led France to finals before they lost to the eventual champions All Blacks in a thrilling 7-8 encounter. He also won the World Rugby Player of the Year in 2011, the second French player to achieve the milestone.

"He leads by example, and I'm sure he'll do the same again this weekend," said Cotter of Dusautoir.

"I've known him through the French competition with Toulouse, and he's always been at the forefront of what they do.

"To have him here is really great for all the people around him.

"Thierry is one of those legends of the game."
