Australia captain Michael Hooper said they are not intimidated by New Zealand's dominance at Eden Park as the two teams face each other on Saturday in the Rugby Championship opener.

The All Blacks have a win percentage of over 85 per cent at the venue against the Wallabies and have won previous 21 Tests against them. The last time Australia won at Eden Park against New Zealand was in 1986.

The opening game of the Bledisloe Cup played last weekend also saw Ian Foster's men register a 33-18 victory over Australia riding on tries from Sevu Reece, Richie Mo'unga, David Havili and Damian McKenzie.

Australia last clinched the Bledisloe Cup in 2002 and the defeat last weekend means they need to win the Saturday's encounter to keep their hopes alive before they head to Perth for the third game on 28th August and Hooper is wary of the challenge ahead.

"We'll be playing our best rugby when we're not focused on that, if we're focused on what we can control, not the other stuff, what's written in the paper or what the public feels," he told,

"We do respect New Zealand and the All Blacks but we don't fear them. We are going out there to impose our game on these guys."

The final 12 minutes of the last weekend's game saw Australia gaining some confidence with back to back tries from Tom Banks that reduced their losing margin.

"We'll take a lot of confidence from it, it's been a common theme this year, finishing well," Hooper added.

"But it was too late in the game. We need to nail down that 80 (minutes) plus performance."
