England coach Eddie Jones insisted that the 3-0 series whitewash that his team enjoyed against the Wallabies in Australia will have no impact whatsoever when they take the field in Twickenham on Saturday.

Australia had a disappointing run of results ever since their World Cup final defeat to New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup final. They were on a six-match losing streak and finally managed to turn it around in the Rugby Championship 2016 tournament where they ended second with three wins from six matches.

They started their European tour with wins over Wales, Scotland and France before their hopes of Grand Slam went dashing with a defeat to Ireland.

Jones, who coached the Wallabies between 2001 and 2005 said he is expecting a strong backlash from Australia on Saturday and believes the intensity of both the teams will set an intriguing contest.

"Australia are probably the most improved side in world rugby," Jones said.

"What they've done throughout the Rugby Championship and then on tour here is quite brilliant.

"Their attack's become a lot more varied, their alignment is better in attack, defensively they're making better decisions and key players have come back.

"Will Genia at nine is a player who I know very well. He's an outstanding player and at his best he was the world's best half-back.

"He's probably not quite there at the moment, but he's playing some really good rugby and adds a solid and influencing role to their team.

"I've been really impressed with what they've done. It makes next week's game so exciting.

"We don't get a head start because we won 3-0 in Australia. I saw an interesting press conference with the Man City manager Pep Guardiola who was talking about playing Burnley.

"Last time Man City played Burnley they beat them 4-0. He made the point - and it's so true - that when you get beaten by a big score the attention you put on the next game against that opposition is more intense.

"You're physically and mentally more motivated. Australia's will to win is going to be enormously high. Our challenge is to make sure our will to win is higher than theirs.

"Tactically we'll beat them but we've got to have a greater will to win than them. We've got to raise our efforts from this week. This is a one-off game against Australia - the 3-0 series win has nothing to do with it."

The last time England toured Australia, Jones was targeted by the media with former Wallabies loose forward Stephen Hoiles shooting an inappropriate and offensive question at the 56-year-old.

Jones lambasted the treatment given to him and his team during their tour of Australia and urged the media to show more respect towards them.

"Steve Hoiles will find something for sure," the Red Rose coach said.

"I think you should always be respectful. The game's built around traditions of respect and I think you should be respectful.

"We've all got a part to play - players, coaches, fans, media, sponsors. We've all got to be respectful.

"Respect is why the game of rugby continues to grow and when you're disrespectful to the game, the game falters. And you can't afford to do that. I'm serious about it."
