Wallabies have confirmed full-time appointment of former fly-half Nathan Grey as the assistant coach of the national team.

The 42-year-old joined the Australia coaching panel in 2014 while working on a duel role with Super Rugby side Waratahs, who he joined as defence coach in 2013.

The Australia Rugby Union confirmed that Grey will leave all the commitments of Waratahs, joining Wallabies on a permanent basis at the end of the 2017 Super Rugby season.

Grey will be accompanied by Stephen Larkham as attack coach and former Argentina hooker Mario Ledesma as forwards and set-piece coach with all the three contracts along with head coach Michael Cheika extended until the 2019 World Cup.

“I have really enjoyed working with this current Wallaby group, as well as the national coaching group,” Grey said.

“I hope we can continue to grow to be where we know we can be, and I’m looking forward to being part of that.

“It will be very tough to leave the Waratahs but I will continue to be based in Sydney and look forward to spending time rotating around with the Australian Super Rugby teams."

Australia's next international assignment will be in August when they host New Zealand in Sydney during the Rugby Championship 2017.
