Former Wales international Stephen Jones has extended his stay with Scarlets as an assistant coach after penning a new contract with the Pro 12 club.

The 39-year-old has made over 100 appearances for Wales in which he has amassed 917 points. The former fly-half started his professional rugby career with Llanelli in 1996 and has also played for Clermont Auvergne, Scarlets and Wasps.

Jones, who has also played six times for British and Irish Lions between 2005 and 2009 was previously the attack coach of Wasps in 2013 and joined Scarlets as backs coach in 2015.

Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac had high praises for Jones, who signed the contract extension days after his fellow backroom staff Ioan Cunningham.

"Stephen is a tireless worker, and his enthusiasm, as well as his technical and tactical ability, rubs off on the boys, and that is evident both on and off the field."
