ASICS Unveil Wallabies Rugby World Cup 2015 Jersey

ASICS, the True Sport Performance brand has unveiled the Qantas Wallabies jersey for the Rugby World Cup 2015, the most technically innovative Rugby Union jersey developed by ASICS to date.

A host of Qantas Wallabies squad members including Stephen Moore, Israel Folau, James Slipper and Bernard Foley, were on hand at Allianz Stadium today to unveil the jersey.

Designed by scientists at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science (ISS) in Kobe Japan, the project has been an18 month long collaboration between ASICS, the ARU and Wallabies squad members, who have been
integral in testing designs throughout the process.

Through scientific research and testing, ASICS has been able to develop a jersey that is lighter, stronger, more ergonomically fitted and harder to grab than previous Wallabies jerseys. The jersey has also been created with specially designed grip points which will enable players to hold the ball more securely.

Managing Director of ASICS Oceania PTY.LTD., Allan Russell, said “We are pleased to be able to launch the Wallabies Rugby World Cup 2015 Jersey.

“We are very proud of this product, and I would like to acknowledge the ASICS team at the ISS behind the development of the Jersey,” Russell said.

“It is incredible to see the evolution of sportswear that is not only designed to enhance performance but proudly still embodies the true value and tradition of the Australia’s national Rugby Union team, the Wallabies.”

The innovative jersey will be worn for the first time when the Wallabies take on Fiji at Millennium Stadium Cardiff (UK) on 23 September in the Aussies first pool match of the Rugby World Cup 2015.

Wallabies hooker Stephen Moore said, “When you see the detail and the research that the scientists at ASICS put into developing this Jersey specifically for our World Cup campaign it gives you confidence that you are wearing the best and most advanced jersey.”

Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, meaning “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body,” is an old Latin phrase from which ASICS is derived and the fundamental platform on which the brand still stands. The company was founded more than 60 years ago by Kihachiro Onitsuka and is now a leading designer and manufacturer of running shoes, as well as, other athletic footwear, apparel and accessories.
