Argentina international Enrique Pieretto has been slammed with a seven-week ban after his red card incident in the game against England last weekend at Twickenham.

The 21-year-old was sent-off in the 75th minute of the game after he was found stamping on England prop Joe Marler.

A statement released by the Autumn International disciplinary panel revealed that Pieretto admitted that he committed a foul play but argued that the offence did not attract a red card.

However, the disciplinary panel ruled out Pieretto's argument and reduced his ban from nine to seven weeks due to mitigating factors.

"As for sanction, the disciplinary committee determined that Mr Pieretto's actions had been intentional and that they merited a top-end entry point based on World Rugby's scale of seriousness, which carries a nine-week playing suspension," the statement read.

"The disciplinary committee further determined that there were no aggravating factors and that there were some mitigating factors, such that his playing suspension be reduced by two weeks."

Pieretto will now be allowed to play from 20th March next year. He has played 13 matches for Ireland till now after making his debut against Argentina at Santiago in June.
