Worcester Warriors have confirmed Alan Solomons as the new rugby director of the Aviva Premiership club from 31st December.

Solomons will take over the role from Gary Gold, who will take a similar position with the United States from the start of the next month.

"It has become clear that the club has masses of potential to be successful in the long term," said Solomons.

"I am looking forward to continuing the hard work to ensure we can build for the future, move up the Premiership table and give the supporters the success they deserve."

Meanwhile, Gold thanked the Sixways outfit for the opportunity presented to him and believes the club has all the credentials to have a successful future.

"I would like to thank the club for allowing me to bring my contract to an end at this time to begin my role with the USA in January.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sixways. I feel the club has taken steps forward over the last year and has the foundations to ultimately be successful."

Solomons has worked with Edinburgh, Kings, Northampton Saints, Barbarians, Ulster and Stormers in the past while also working as an assistant coach of the Springboks between 1997 and 2000.

Worcester Warriors are currently languishing at the 11th position in the Aviva Premiership with three wins from 11 matches.
